The 15 Broyles Award semifinalists announced Monday include four SEC assistant coaches with offensive coordinators Tommy Rees of Alabama, Mike Bobo of Georgia and Mike Denbrock of LSU and Missouri defensive line/edge coach Kevin Peoples, a former University of Arkansas assistant.
Other semifinalists are defensive coordinators Adam Fuller (Florida State), Phil Parker (Iowa), Bryant Haines (James Madison), Ron English (Louisville), Jim Knowles (Ohio State), Manny Diaz (Penn State), Pete Kwiatkowski (Texas) and D’Anton Lynn (UCLA) and offensive coordinators Sherrone Moore (Michigan), Will Stein (Oregon) and Ryan Grubb (Washington).
The Broyles Award, which honors the legacy of the late Frank Broyles for hiring quality assistant coaches and recognizing their contributions to his success during his time as head coach and athletic director at Arkansas, has been presented annually to the nation’s top assistant coach since 1996.
The winner of this year’s award from a group of five finalists will be announced on Dec. 5 at a luncheon at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock.
The Broyles Award was created by former Arkansas linebacker David Bazzel with Broyles’ approval.
